McAlpine Named an ACCREDITED ESTATE PLANNER® Designee 

Peoples Bank Wealth Management Group President Mike McAlpine was recently named an ACCREDITED ESTATE PLANNER® Designee by the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils.  Mike joined Peoples Bank in 1999, and has been working with clients with trust and estate administration services for more than 30 years.  Mike also holds his CTFA, CISP and AFIMTM designations.     

The Accredited Estate Planner® (AEP®) designation is a graduate level, multi-disciplinary specialization in estate planning, obtained in addition to already recognized professional credentials within the various disciplines of estate planning.  The AEP® designation is available to actively practicing attorneys (JD) and Certified Public Accountants (CPA); or those currently designated as a Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®); Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®); Certified Financial Planner (CFP®); Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA); Certified Private Wealth Advisor® (CPWA®); Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®); Certified Specialist in Planned Giving (CSPG); or Certified Trust & Financial Advisor (CTFA).

It is awarded by the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils to recognize estate planning professionals who meet stringent requirements of experience, knowledge, education, professional reputation, and character.  An AEP® designee must embrace the team concept of estate planning and adhere to the NAEPC Code of Ethics, as well as participate in an annual renewal and recertification process.

The NAEPC is a national organization of professional estate planners and affiliated local estate planning councils focused on establishing and monitoring the highest professional and educational standards.  NAEPC fosters public awareness of the quality services rendered by professionals who meet these standards.  NAEPC builds a team approach involving cross-professional disciplines to better serve the public’s need for estate planning.


Van Heuvelen Elected President of Iowa Trust Association

Brad Van Heuvelen, Senior Wealth Management Group Officer at Peoples Bank Wealth Management Group, was elected President of the Iowa Trust Association at the annual meeting of the Iowa Trust Association on September 28.
Van Heuvelen was nominated and approved by ITA member organizations from across the state. Van Heuvelen is a member of the ITA board and is the current ITA vice president. He will begin his one-year role as president in January. The ITA president leads the ITA Board of Directors, which is responsible for setting policy and overseeing the general operations of the Iowa Trust Association.
Van Heuvelen joined Peoples Bank Wealth Management Group in 2000. In his role as Senior Wealth Management Group Officer, Van Heuvelen assists with the overall management of the trust department. He is an integral part of the investment management team and is experienced with tax, compliance, and farm management. Van Heuvelen serves as a member of the Trust Administrative/Investment Committee, Peoples Bank Trust Committee, Peoples Insurance Board, and Peoples Bancorp Board.
