As part of its ongoing commitment to enrich our community, Peoples Bank in Akron has committed $50,000 to the Akron-Westfield Youth/High School Boys & Girls Wrestling Practice Facility.

Due to the rapid growth of the Akron-Westfield Wrestling Program and the recent launch of a girls wrestling program, the current facility no longer meets the needs of the athletes. There is a lack of room for safe practices, training sessions, and proper development of the wrestlers. The new facility will have three wrestling mats, locker rooms, restrooms, storage, and will be three times the size of the current facility. Fundraising for the new facility is led by the Akron-Westfield Youth/High School Wrestling Program in cooperation with the Akron-Westfield Community School District and will be located on school property. The project total is $325,000 with $191,000 already pledged.

Peoples Bank’s donation will be distributed in phases, with $25,000 presented this year. The other $25,000 will be donated next year as part of a match. This pledge reflects Peoples Bank’s dedication to supporting community and school-based projects.
